Five living bakers. One dead baker’s recipe. Five kitchens.

We’re putting a historical sourdough recipe back to work to see what happens when five modern bakers take it into five different kitchens.

Same recipe. Different bakers. Different starters. Different kitchens.

Shirley wants to know what happens.

FIVE KITCHENS WANTED

We’re looking for five sourdough bakers to put the same historical recipe back to work in their own kitchens. You’ll use your own starter, follow the same core recipe, document what happens, and send your results back to Shirley.

If selected for Case 001, you’ll receive the recipe and simple testing instructions. You’ll bake it once during the October testing window, take a few photos, record a handful of observations, and submit your results by the deadline.

That’s it. No perfect loaf required. We want to know what actually happens.

We’ll choose five bakers from the responses we receive. This isn’t first-come, first-served—we’re looking for an interesting mix of bakers, starters, kitchens, and experience.
